Hegel Course

Hegel Masterclass
"I f I can master Hegel, I can master anything!"
Enrolment for 2023 is now open! Seminars begin 30 April 2023

This Spring of 2023, as life resurrects itself just after Easter, we too shall rise to heights of the Absolute Idea! Prepare yourselves ready for the beginning of all beginnings: Hegel's Philosophy in all its glory will be taught by our Halkyon's own Dr. Filip Niklas in his 9 weeks Masterclass on Hegel. Seminars begin Sunday 30 April 2023 at 6pm UK/1pm EST. Do not miss this one! It's been more than two years since we last offered this course. You can enrol here.

"Education is the art of making people ethical", said the grandmaster Hegel himself. And such will be the idea of this course as well.

This course offers a critical examination of the key concepts of truth, history and freedom in Hegel’s philosophy. Our study will include excerpts from the Science of Logic, the Lectures on the Philosophy of History, Outlines of a Philosophy of Right and Lectures on the Aesthetics.

This is the ultimate Hegel Masterclass on the Internet. So if you always wanted to study Hegel, this is the right course for you.

Hegel exercised enormous influence on 19th and 20th century thinkers, from Marx and Kierkegaard to Heidegger, Merleau-Ponty and Gadamer, and continues to this day with thinkers such as Brandom and McDowell. For anyone seeking to gain a better understanding of what is distinctive about Hegel’s methodology and thought, this course will offer a substantive introduction.

Hegel is a notoriously difficult philosopher—a philosopher’s philosopher—but like an old teacher once said, “If I can master Hegel, I can master anything!” A good portion of this course will train your ability to read, understand and communicate Hegel’s ideas, which will in turn hone your intellectual aptitude and make you a better philosopher.

"The ripest maturity, the highest stage, that anything can attain is the one at which its fall begins." Hegel
